Adriana makes art which is about contrast and synthesis. Her work is both delicate and bold; the figuration is highly stylised, the abstract elements are always organic and highly decorative, making use of motifs derived from West African art and craft objects. Her use of bright but earthy colours is striking yet restrained. While her style is fresh, airy and light, it also has great strength and depth.
Adriana has recently launched her own West African inspired label titled "Nana Yaa". Nana Yaa is Adriana's Ghanaian name. The name Yaa is traditionally given to girls born on a Thursday. The name Nana is symbolic for her paternal royal Ghanaian bloodline to the Denkyirehene.
Adriana Fabin is from London. She studied at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art, part of University College London, and unusually, was admitted to the Fine Art degree course without first having done a foundation course. Her commissioned art pieces appear in some major private collections, including the Nelson Woo Collection. Prizes and awards include the James Cullingham Prize and the Alfred W Rich Scholarship.
